Testimonials

“The SNAPP program has been lifesaving. Teen girls are more at risk than ever before… of suicide, self-harm, eating disorders, depression… This program gives my adolescent a safe place to explore these issues — without having to bring them to “mom or dad” — in an environment of peer support that is also professionally facilitated. My daughter has learned countless coping skills and new tools for staying grounded and clear about her feelings and choices, and her self-esteem and confidence has done a 180 since before SNAPP! I can’t wait until she’s old enough to mentor other girls in the program. We’re so grateful for this wonderful program.”

“My daughter took part in the kick-off session of SNAPP and was the youngest girl involved in the program. The weekly sessions quickly became the highlight of her week. She absolutely loved having a chance to hang out with other middle school girls, her big sister, the other high school girls and the grad students directing the sessions. Each week when I’d pick her up she would be absolutely beaming. As the only girl in the family I loved that she had other girls she could talk that weren’t judging her and gave her great information.

Middle school can be tough and I’d like for my daughter to make it through those years as smoothly as possible. SNAPP has been incredible for giving her the tools to do just that. SNAPP provided her with a safe haven to express her concerns, ask advice and gain valuable insights into how to deal with the difficult issues that will confront her through the remainder of middle school, high school and beyond. I am so grateful that this program now exists and we were able to be a part of it! She is definitely hoping to continue on with future sessions!”

“Last year my daughter was lucky enough to be a part of the first SNAPP program. She was a junior in high school at the time and busy studying, working and experiencing all the ups and downs that come with being a teenager. Being in SNAPP gave her the opportunity to share those experiences with the younger girls. I think she was able to not only talk to the younger members about their concerns and questions about the future, but she was also able to reflect on the things she had been through during her early teen years. I know that giving the younger girls someone to confide in and someone that they feel is really listening to them can make all the difference. I think there are so many stresses and worries for teenage girls these days that we, as parents, are not aware of and can’t effectively help with. I think SNAPP offers a program where girls can feel accepted, valued and safe to share all the complicated emotions that are a part of growing up. I know my daughter is proud to have been a part of this important program and we both believe that it has the ability to support, encourage and empower young girls in a unique and significant way.”
